The Sony A7sii has dozens of options when it comes to color. I’ve spent countless hours trying to decipher what option works best. SLOG3 gives you a ton of dynamic range, but it’s not the easiest format to shoot in and it comes at the cost of some weird banding in white areas, especially when shooting against a white wall. Awhile back, I read an article by Marien Brethouwer who discusses this phenomenon.
He suggested something called PP8 -> CINE4 and switching the color mode to S-Gamut3.Cine.
You’ll find the dynamic range is very similar to SLOG3. You’ll still need a conversion lut for this setting to bring your color back to Rec.709.
Here are some examples. Keep in mind that white balance has not been adjusted.
